Debian pkg-java -- Ant transition page

Transition is finished

Every packages has been moved (except nice but it's FTBFS). I stopped the daily script

List of packages that depend on libant1.6-java

What is the difference?

Before July 2005, ant was in contrib. As Debian cares about free software, Stefan Gybas created a ant package that could go to main (removing some features), building it with free tools and so. This package was called libant1.5-java. Then, when ant 1.6 came out, a second package has been created: libant1.6-java. This was a lot of work to maintain because it was two separate source package to maintain (libant1.5-java has been deprecated when libant1.6-java came out).

Why change something that work?

Thanks to Wolfgang Baer, ant is now in main with (nearly?) all its features. We will not maintain libant1.6-java no more. All our efforts will be for ant. We'd like to remove libant1.6-java but we don't wanna break all the java packages that need ant (I meant libant1.6-java) to build. That's why it'd be good if every package (see the list bellow) that needs libant1.6-java changes it dependency to ant.

Thanks for your work,

Arnaud Vandyck, Wolfgang Baer.
